Kait, short for Kaitlynn and it’s funny actually that I go by Kait in this space, but it only makes the most sense.
The nickname, Kait, never felt right until I was Kait’s Photography then Photography By Kait. This craft is my truest, most honest and joyful extension of myself. I’m not Kait without “a photographer” quickly trailing behind. It’s an identity I assumed the moment I chose this path of creative investment.
To me, photography is so much more than a few photos you get to share with your Facebook friends. It’s a story to be told. It’s moments already had, moments to be experienced, and moments yet danced in life’s rhythm. Photos never go out of style. They’re a timeless relic of our lives’ most beautiful and complex tales.
More than that though, in an ever changing world where it’s easy to get lost in the mess, photos give us a reason to slow down and remember.
Love Letters
My favorite memories go as early as sitting at Grandma Kathy’s dining room table helping piece together scrapbooks of pictures from our childhood adventures. Themed summer parties, baking cookies, cooking breakfast, sink baths as babies, and so many laughs and moments surrounded by love. I still carry my box of photos with me to every place I go and once in a while, when I remember, I sit on the floor and I sift through those photos and I experience those moments all over again. It’s a gift to say the least.
I’m a photographer because the roots of my heart have been tightly wrapped around every warm moment spent surrounded by my closest and most favorite people I have been blessed endlessly to have in my life and I’m forever grateful to have some of those moments frozen in photographs to cherish through every passing day.
